Spread the Message of The Starling Project

Every day, we all have an opportunity to make a positive impact in the life of a child. The Starling Project is not just about eradicating child abuse and neglect – it is also about inspiring a community to positively support children in large and small ways.

At The Kempe Foundation, we are proud of the work our child advocacy professionals do every day in support of children. We have accessed their good thinking, as well as the good thinking of like-minded professionals, to create various resources we hope will inspire actions that positively impact children.

Please download the following resources and use them with your family, your friends and your community. And remember to share your Starling Stories once you have used these resources! It’s all about sharing these positive moments in our effort to build a true murmuration.

Every day we all can do something to positively impact the life of a child. Here are 30 Ways to Show a Child You Care – one creative idea for every day of the month. We encourage you to download these tips and do one thing every day to show your child or loved one you care – because it’s the little things that can go a long way in the life of a child! And remember to take a picture while you are doing one of the activities and share it on social media using #TheStarlingProject!

Take a moment to be creative with your child or loved one. Or consider sharing this coloring sheet with your local school or community group. Recognizing child abuse and neglect can be difficult and uncomfortable task. We encourage the public to learn the oftentimes subtle signs of abuse and neglect to help identify a situation that may otherwise go undetected before it is too late. It is also important to recognize the signs that indicate a parent or caregiver could potentially become abusive towards a child.

Please visit The Kempe Center’s website to learn more about these signs of abuse and neglect.

If you suspect a situation of child abuse and/or neglect, please take the best next step by alerting authorities. To learn more about child abuse and neglect reporting in your state, please visit the Child Welfare Information Gateway.

And if you or your family are experiencing a violent situation, please contact your local police.
